The Jury, formed of professionals including Nacho Lavernia, Eli Gutiérrez, Antonio Serrano, Enric Pastor and Marisa Santamaría, was impressed by the “sensitive approach to craftsmanship” and the “support for the only event there is in Spain that connects young creatives with the design industry”.
The selection includes a design studio from Lithuania, another from Angola, a Mexican university and projects from all over Spain.
Salón nude 2022 has already announced the content of its upcoming edition, which takes place from 20th to 23rd September within Feria Hábitat Valencia. The jury of professionals has selected a total of 11 designers, new manufacturers and design consultancies to take part, along with the 8 universities and schools of design, in a fresh edition of nude, the Young Design Talent Show, which is also Spain’s main launchpad and showcase for creativity in the field of interiors.
To select this year’s participants, nude called upon a jury of professionals comprised of leading figures from the world of design. The members of the 2022 Jury were:
The five judges met last week, with the director of the Salón nude, María Fontes, to assess all the designs submitted and select those to be featured in the Show. The final selection of designers and design studios includes:
The schools of design listed below will also be taking part in Salón nude:
After analysing all the creations submitted by the designers and designs studios selected, the Jury took into consideration “the special context that has prevailed post-pandemic as a result of not having been able to stage the Salón nude in 2020 or 2021”. They recognised in the minutes of the meeting that they applied “a much broader set of selection criteria, placing value in some instances on evident sensitivity to craftsmanship and taking into account that the show is geared to supporting promising new designers. We have been more inclusive so as to support and provide continuity to the only event in Spain that connects young creatives with the design industry”.
2022 is set to be a year of celebrations for Salón nude
2022 is a very special year for Salón nude: the Show turns 20 years old this year and is celebrating with a major retrospective that is already open to view at the Centre del Carmen Cultura Contemporània (CCCC) in the city of Valencia. Curated jointly by the Centre del Carme and Feria Valencia, the exhibition features a selection of outstanding work that has been displayed at Salón nude over the years, in a staging devised by Odosdesign studio and is sure to receive a boost from Valencia being designated World Design Capital 2022.
Promoting 'made in Spain' design since 2002
The Salón nude was created in 2002 within the framework of what back then was the Feria Internacional del Mueble de Valencia (FIM – Valencia International Furniture Fair) and as a project that would have continuity over time. It was conceived to fulfil four objectives:
Many designers who are now highly acclaimed made their debuts on stands at Salón nude, including Mut Design, Nieves Contreras, Héctor Serrano, Alberto Martínez, Miguel Herranz, José Manuel Ferrero, Odosdesign, Culdesac, Stone Design, Javier Herrero, Luis Eslava, Isaac Piñeiro, EnBlanc, La Mamba - Omelette, Irish designer Ray Power and Dutch designer Marre Moerel.
